Item descriptionSo, why car seat cleaning?
Honestly, it might sound like a silly answer. But for me, it started with becoming a first-time mom.
When my daughter came into the world, I quickly realized just how much there is to learn. Which diapers are best? Why is she spitting up? Is that normal? How do you even hold a slippery newborn in the bathtub without feeling like you’re going to drop her?
Every day brought another question, another decision, another thing I was supposed to know.
And then there was social media.
Everywhere I looked, there were tips, tricks, hacks and opinions about motherhood. And somewhere in all of that noise, I kept seeing people talking about car seats.
How to clean them. What products to use. What not to do. How difficult it is to take them apart and put them back together. Parents saying, “That’s the last thing I want to deal with.”
And as a new mom, I thought, Oh no. I can’t learn that too.
So I put it at the bottom of my list.
I figured I’d deal with it when I absolutely had to.
Then one day, “when I absolutely had to” arrived.
Spit-up? No big deal. I’d wipe it down.
More spit-up? Okay. Still manageable.
But then came the blowout.
And it wasn’t just a little mess. It was everywhere—every nook and cranny, places I didn’t even know could get dirty. And suddenly I was staring at my daughter’s car seat thinking, What am I supposed to do now?
All those thoughts I’d been carrying as a new mom came rushing back.
I don’t know what I’m doing.
What if I mess this up?
What if I can’t do this?
Am I really going to be a good mom?
The thoughts piled on top of each other until one simple mess felt like proof that I wasn’t capable.
But then I realized something:
I had to do it.
So I pulled out the manual.
I read it.
I took a deep breath.
And I told myself, You just have to do it.
So I started.
I carefully removed each piece of fabric. I made sure I wasn’t damaging the foam. I cleaned all the little cracks and crevices where that blowout had found its way. I followed the manufacturer’s instructions. I cleaned everything I could safely clean, washed it, dried it and carefully put it all back together.
And when I finished, I looked at that car seat and thought:
I did it.
It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t particularly fun.
But I did it.
And something about that small accomplishment felt bigger than cleaning a car seat.
For the first time in a while, I felt like I had actually figured something out.
Motherhood had made me question myself constantly. Every decision felt important. Every choice made me wonder if I was doing the right thing. I felt like I was walking a tightrope, terrified that one wrong step would mean I wasn’t giving my daughter the mother she deserved.
But that car seat?
I had a manual.
I followed the directions.
I took my time.
And I did it correctly.
The next day, when I placed my little girl back into that clean, cozy, safe car seat, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a while.
Confidence.
Not because I suddenly knew everything about motherhood.
Not because all my doubts disappeared.
But because I had proven something to myself:
I can learn hard things.
And maybe that’s why car seat cleaning means so much to me.
Because if cleaning a car seat could give me a little bit of confidence when I felt like I was drowning in everything I was supposed to know as a new mom, maybe I could give that feeling to someone else.
Maybe I could take one overwhelming task off another mom’s plate.
Maybe I could help a parent who is exhausted, busy, overwhelmed or simply doesn’t have the time or confidence to figure out how to safely clean their child’s car seat.
And maybe, in doing that, I could help another parent feel just a little more capable.
That’s what Cozy Cruisers is really about for me.
Yes, I’m cleaning car seats.
But I’m also building something.
I’m building my confidence.
I’m learning something new.
I’m challenging myself to do something that once felt overwhelming.
And most importantly, I’m showing my daughter that hard things don’t have to scare us away.
Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, read the manual, take the first step and keep going.
I want her to grow up knowing that her mom didn’t have everything figured out.
She was scared sometimes.
She felt overwhelmed.
She questioned herself.
But she kept trying.
She learned.
She built something.
And she didn’t let the hard things convince her that she couldn’t do them.
So maybe it is a little silly.
Maybe I’m “just” cleaning car seats.
But every time I help a family leave with a clean, cozy car seat, I get to remember that I started this because one day, I needed to prove something to myself.
That I could do hard things.
That I could learn.
That I could be capable.
That I could be a good mom.
And I want my daughter to see me doing exactly that.
That’s my why.
Welcome to Cozy Cruisers.
